Pre School BalletOur pre school ballet class is designed to excite and engage our smaller dancers from 3 -5 years. Through the most basic of musical skills, we encourage their confidence and imagination, grow their foundation techniques and co-ordination and promote their first understanding of discipline in a classroom environment.
We encourage our pre schoolers to wear ballet shoes and their own choice of dance attire - our studio uniform is not required at this age. At show time, we know our pre schoolers love being involved and cherish being included. They are invited to perform with the "big kids" and we do our best to make all opportunities open to them as well as our older students. . |
All classes from pre grade 1 follow the NZAMD syllabus and work towards annual exams.
BalletBallet is an important base for most dance disciplines, and the NZAMD Ballet syllabus is designed to allow students to progress without pressure, each grade being of a length that makes it attractive for the once a week student, as well as being progressively challenging for the more committed student.

ContemporaryChoreographed by Ann Dewey, the NZAMD Contemporary syllabus is often called the ‘yoga for dancers’.
Teaching students to understand the concepts of contemporary movement such as weight, flow, momentum, and the use of gravity, they continue to enjoy a sense of dance while focusing on freedom of movement and spatial awareness. Dancers are required to have a certain level of body awareness in order to fully explore the movement qualities of this syllabus. Therefore, contemporary classes are only offered to dancers aged 10 and above. Available from Introductory Level (10 years) through to Level 6 and on to Solo Performance Diploma. Please talk to us so we can help you work out the best class for you/your child. |
